Sarah Paulson‘s 2025 Oscars night look was anything but ratched.
However, the American Horror Story star did raise a few eyebrows when she stepped out to Vanity Fair‘s Oscars after-party March 2 in an unconventional gown. (See all the Oscars arrivals here and click here for the complete list of winners.)
Designed by Marc Jacobs, the crimson-colored number featured bulging, off-shoulder sleeves that almost stood over her head. The unusual dress was complete with an oversized bow on the back that extended past Sarah’s waist, as well as a puffy hemline on her skirt.
She completed her ensemble with black pointed toe heels and a matching handbag, as well as Laura Geller Beauty makeup.
But for Sarah, her true fashion muse is her partner Holland Taylor, who she’s been dating since 2015.
“The thing about Holland wearing any item of clothing [is] she just makes it look like it costs so much money,” the 50-year-old told People last year, explaining that the Practice alum “has the best style of anyone on the planet.”
“Holland has clothing that she’s had since the dawn of time,” Sarah continued. “And she really won’t get rid of them, and it’s because they look gorgeous on her. They still fit her.”
The Ratched actress added, “She’s a perfect example of: she knows what works on her, she sticks with it and she just always looks so great.”
In fact, their relationship has since had an impact on her own personal style. As Sarah put it, “For a long time, I would look at my closet and it looked just kind of chaotic to me, and different versions.”
“And on one level that used to be what I felt was good for me about my closet, was that I could go in there and become anyone when I wanted to be,” she explained. “But now, I’m searching more for a little bit more simplicity and clarity, and so I have a lot of the same things.”
And while Holland, 82, did not join her longtime love at the Vanity Fair party this year, Sarah was nonetheless in good company.
Not only did she exchange friendly hugs with Hacks‘ Hannah Einbinder upon her arrival, but Sarah was spotted catching up with Jon Hamm, Justin Theroux and Kyra Sedgwick once inside the star-studded bash.
