After crossing the country in the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the young demigods of Camp Half-Blood are taking to the seas in season two.

A trailer for the new season — based on The Sea of Monsters, the second book in author Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series — shows Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and their sometime antagonist Clarisse (Dior Goodjohn) sailing into the Sea of Monsters (aka the Bermuda Triangle) on a quest to save the camp and rescue Grover (Aryan Simhadri), whose protective barrier is weakened by an attack. Watch the trailer below.

The trailer also offers an extended look at fan-favorite character Tyson (Daniel Diemer), a cyclops, and a brief glimpse of Tamara Smart as Thalia. It also showcases larger-scale action scenes, particularly on the sea, and the Camp Half-Blood chariot race that’s a key sequence early in Riordan’s novel.

The logline for season two reads, “After Camp Half-Blood’s protective border is breached, Percy Jackson embarks on an epic odyssey into the Sea of Monsters in search of his best friend Grover and the one thing that may save the camp — the legendary Golden Fleece. With help from Annabeth, Clarisse and his newfound cyclops half-brother Tyson, Percy’s survival becomes essential to stopping Luke (Charlie Bushnell), the Titan Kronos, and their impending plan to bring down Camp Half-Blood — and ultimately, Olympus.”

Season two’s guest cast includes returnees Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jason Mantzoukas, Glynn Turman, Virginia Kull, Adam Copeland and Toby Stephens. Timothy Simons, Courtney B. Vance — who takes over the role of Zeus from the late Lance Reddick — Andra Day, Sandra Bernhard, Margaret Cho, Kristen Schaal, Rosemarie DeWitt and Aleks Paunovic are among the new additions to the ensemble.

Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg created Percy Jackson and the Olympians and executive produce season two with Dan Shotz, Rebecca Riordan, Craig Silverstein, Bert Salke, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin (who directed the first two episodes), Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Jason Ensler and Sarah Watson.

Season two premieres Dec. 10.
