Pete Davidson and Ella Purnell have signed on to star in That Time We Met, a high-concept romantic comedy from Theater Camp co-director Nick Lieberman. The former SNL star and the Yellowjackets and Fallout actress will play a new couple fresh off a disastrous first date who discover their unborn child is fated to save humanity.
Written by Mitchell Winkie (The Ultimate Playlist of Noise), That Time We Met is being produced by Matt Jackson and Joanne Lee of Jackson Pictures (Molly’s Game), Marc Platt, Adam Siegel and Katie McNicol of Marc Platt Productions (Wicked: For Good), and Ford Corbett and Nathan Klingher for Gramercy Park Media (The Surfer). Gramercy’s Joshua Harris and Mark Fasano are executive producing. WME Independent is handling world sales and will introduce the project to buyers at next week’s American Film Market in Los Angeles.
Davidson, whose film credits include The King of Staten Island, The Suicide Squad, The Pickup and Dumb Money, will be next seen on the big screen in David Leitch’s action crime thriller How to Rob a Bank, set to hit theaters next year. He is currently in pre-production on Killing Satoshi, a thriller from director Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) in which he will star alongside Casey Affleck.
Purnell, best-known for her small-screen roles in Amazon Prime series Fallout, Showtime’s Yellowjackets and Starz’ Sweatpea, recently wrapped filming on comedy horror feature The Scurry from director Craig Roberts (The Phantom of the Open). Other feature credits include Never Let Me Go, Kick-Ass 2, and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
