Rachel Sennott, Odessa A’zion Are Frenemies in ‘I Love LA’ Comedy Trailer

Bottoms star Rachel Sennott and her codependent friends, each with their own career dreams and sexual drives, collide in Los Angeles in the trailer for the HBO comedy I Love LA, which dropped on Wednesday.

“Hustle until your idols become your rivals,” Sennott, who created the series and plays a neurotic Maia, tells herself at one point in the short teaser just before failing to nab a work promotion. Her problems only deepen when Maia reconnects after years apart with an emotionally unrestrained Tallulah, played by Odessa A’zion.

“Those kind of people have this, like, endless ambition,” Maia’s friend Dylan, played by Josh Hutcherson, warns her as the group of reuniting codependent friends navigate how separation and new relationships have changed them over time.

Maia doesn’t heed his advice, and her L.A. misadventures only get crazier in Tallulah’s company. Sennott co-directs and executive produces I Love LA. The first season of eight episodes debuts Nov. 2 on HBO, while also becoming available on HBO Max.

The series also stars Jordan Firstman and True Whitaker, with Leighton Meester, Moses Ingram, Lauren Holt, Elijah Wood, Quenlin Blackwell, Josh Brener, Tim Baltz, Froy Gutierrez and Colin Woodell making guest appearances.

Comic and actor Sennott first gained attention as the star of the 2020 indie film Shiva Baby, ahead of starring in Bodies Bodies Bodies and Bottoms, which she co-wrote. She also appeared in Jason Reitman‘s SNL movie Saturday Night.

Sennott executive produces I Love LA alongside Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers, Max Silvestri and Lorene Scafaria after HBO first picked the series up in Sept. 2024.
