Real ‘Hunting Wives’ Cast Reacts to ‘SNL’ Spoof: “My Life Is Made”

The real cast of The Hunting Wives were more than excited to see the Saturday Night Live spoof of Netflix’s hit raunchy crime drama.

During the Oct. 11 episode of the long-running NBC sketch comedy series, the prerecorded sketch saw host Amy Poehler portray Malin Akerman’s Margo, while Chloe Fineman played Brittany Snow’s Sophie.

“Omg @nbcsnl this is the best thing I’ve ever seen!!! Hunting wives Season 2 premiere (?!) Yessssss!!!!!” Akerman wrote on Instagram. Snow added in her own post, “It’s just us & the beans. My life is made.”

The SNL parody references several scenes and moments from the hit show, including Sophie’s alcoholism, Margo teaching Sophie how to hunt in a “sensual” way and that thrilling game of Spin the Bottle. It also featured Ashley Padilla as Jaime Ray Newman’s Callie and Sarah Sherman as Katie Lowes’ Jill.

“Millions of Americans tuned in for season 1 of The Hunting Wives, the straight but lesbian, horny, Republican, murder drama. And now it’s back for more,” a voiceover said at the beginning of the sketch (below). “We at Netflix have rushed to get you in record time, The Hunting Wives season two. All your faves are back and they’re as naughty as ever. Thighs will be squeezed. Guns will be drawn.”

The Hunting Wives follows Sophie, who moves to East Texas and gets drawn into wealthy socialite Margo’s glamorous and dangerous world with her elite group of friends. But she finds herself entangled in a dark web of obsession, seduction and secrets when a local teenage girl turns up dead. The show has also been renewed for a second season.

HUNTING WIVES ON @nbcsnl!! We were DYING. Love you @amypoehler @sarahsquirm @chloeiscrazy @ash.padill @malinakerman @jaimeraynewman4real,” Lowes also wrote on Instagram. She also shared a video of herself, Akerman and Newman’s real-time reactions to the SNL sketch.

At the end of the skit, Aubrey Plaza also made a surprise cameo as the “new new girl who joins the group,” after moving from California. However, the women end up pulling out their rifles when Plaza’s character reveals that she’s actually a lesbian.
