From Studio 6B in the heart of New York City, it’s The Tonight Show’s best moments of the year.
The NBC late-night talk show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, has had so many hilarious moments and viral bits in the past year, it’s easy to understand why it’s the longest-running talk show on television and the No. 1 late-night program on digital platforms.
Take, for instance, when Wickedstars Ariana Grandeand Cynthia Erivostopped by in November to record a trendy rap about their characters’ friendship, and the bop racked up over 117 million views on TikTok and remained an earworm for weeks.
Viewers were also treated to Grammy winner Bad Bunny serving as Jimmy’s cohost in January and got to see the pair surprise unsuspecting subway riders with a free concert.
Last summer, rising superstar Chappell Roan appeared and, in addition to referencing RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Sasha Colby by saying, “I’m your favorite artist’s favorite artist,” the “Good Luck Babe!” singer prompted a viral moment by asking Jimmy, “Did you not know who I was before?”
Fellow late night TV legend David Letterman also showed up and told the Saturday Night Live alum, “What I would really like to do is hit you in the face with a tortilla.” And so, he did.
Plus, “Sinners” star Hailee Steinfeld—who has tied the knot with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allensince appearing on The Tonight Show in April—spilled on the details of her engagement to Jimmy and then hung around play Password with Sir Elton John and Brandi Carlile.
