Apple TV+ has released a teaser for its upcoming series Pluribus, from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan — but anyone looking for clarity about the show’s premise won’t find a lot here.

The 45-second teaser features Rhea Seehorn’s character, Carol, speaking on the phone with someone who offers her “help, in any way … food, medicine, whatever you need. We are here for you. Rest assured, Carol, we will figure out whatever makes you different.”

As the conversation plays out over a series of cuts — Carol driving a police car and flipping off a passing vehicle, someone swabbing a petri dish in the shape of a smiley face — it’s revealed that she’s speaking with someone at the White House (played by The Young and the Restless veteran Peter Bergman) via a C-SPAN call-in.

When Bergman’s character notices Carol’s reluctance to speak, he asks if she has any questions. Her reply: “I guess to star with, What the f***?” Watch the teaser below.

The logline for Pluribus describes the show as “a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.” Gilligan wrote the series with Better Call Saul star Seehorn in mind; Apple TV+ scored rights to the Sony Pictures TV-produced drama with a two-season order back in 2022.

Karolina Wydra and Carlos-Manuel Vesga star with Seehorn, and Miriam Shor and Samba Schutte have guest roles.

Gilligan executive produces with Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski and Jeff Frost. Jenn Carroll and Trina Siopy are co-EPs.
