Ryan Coogler, Chloé Zhao, Timothée Chalamet and More Who Landed Multiple Oscar Noms

It was a good Oscar nominations morning for filmmakers Ryan Coogler, Paul Thomas Anderson, Chloé Zhao and Josh Safdie.

Coogler landed three Oscar nominations for his original horror feature Sinners — as director, screenwriter and for best picture, all contributing to the film’s record-setting 16 nominations, the most in Oscars history.

But Marty Supreme’s Safdie is the top nominated person this year and will compete in four categories. He landed noms for director, original screenplay, editing and as a producer for best picture — all part of the film’s nine noms. Frequent Safdie collaborator Ronald Bronstein shares his noms for original screenplay and editing, and is also among the best picture producing nominees.

Meanwhile, Marty star Timothée Chalamet is a double nominee this year, for best actor and as a producer for its best picture nom. (He’s also the only acting nominee returning from last year.)

Anderson, the filmmaker behind One Battle After Another, earned three noms, for director, adapted screenplay and as a producer for best picture, all part of its 13 nominations.

Hamnet filmmaker Zhao landed noms for directing, adapted screenplay and producer for its best picture nomination. The project brought in eight nominations in all.

Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein scared up nine noms, with Del Toro landing noms for best picture and adapted screenplay.

Joachim Trier is nominated for best director and best original screenplay for Sentimental Value.

Two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone is a double nominee this year for producing Bugonia and is also competing in the best actress category.

And Jafar Panahi, the much-talked about Iranian filmmaker who faces a prison sentence back home, landed original screenplay and best international feature noms for It Was Just an Accident.

The 98th Oscars, hosted by Conan O’Brien, will air live on ABC and streaming on Hulu from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 15, starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
