Selena Gomezis only a winner in this building.
The Wizards of Waverly Place alum was stunned as she accepted the 2025 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and shared her shock with the crowd.
After New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield announced Only Murders in the Building as the winner—beating out Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks and Shrinking—Selena stood up dumbfounded with her cast and mouthed “What?” (Click here to see the full list of SAG Award winners.)
During her walk to the stage with Michael Cyril Creighton, Molly Shannon and Richard Kind, the 32-year-old—who donned a custom navy Celine dress, complemented by drop earrings and a bold red lip—looked around the room with her eyes wide and mouth agape, continuing her questions.
“Do I have to talk?” she asked her costars. “I can’t talk.”
Despite the fear, though, Selena—who was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for Emilia Pérez—gave a rousing speech that left the audience in fits of laughter.
“Wait, we never win,” she began. “This is so weird.”
She also addressed her costars Martin Short—who also won for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series—and Steve Martin’s absence from the ceremony.
“Well, Marty and Steve aren’t here because, you know, they don’t really care,” Selena continued, prompting the audience to chuckle. “But I don’t know what to say. Thank you to Marty and Steve for helping raise me. I genuinely am just so grateful [to] everybody, the writers. Everyone deserves this, and I take it home for all of us.”
She also referenced the upcoming season of the show, adding, “I’m bringing this back to New York for season five. Thank you so much. I’m so grateful. Thank you, SAG-AFTRA. Thank you to everybody. I love you.”
