Blondes Bobs have more fun.
After all, Savannah Guthrie debuted her new, short hairstyle during the Sept. 12 episode of Today, marking the shortest length she’s had in years thanks to a new cut from stylist Chris McMillan, who also cut colleague Jenna Bush Hager’s hair earlier this summer.
As Savannah wrote in a Sept. 12 Instagram post showing off her new ‘do alongside Chris, aptly set to “Good as Hell” by Lizzo, “Of course I did.”
The 53-year-old—who shares Vale, 11, and Charles, 8, with husband Michael Feldman—was clearly feeling the new look, gushing as she looked at herself in the mirror in the video, “It’s so cute!”
Later, the Today host shared insight into the dramatic change following the broadcast.
“Short hair don’t care,” Savannah effused in a video she shared to her Instagram later that same day. “Chris McMillan is the master of disaster. He can take my hair from long to chic bob.”
And while she loves the new style, Savannah admitted she wasn’t fully aware of how much length she was going to lose.
“I thought it was going to be a lob,” she explained, mirroring a length just beyond her shoulders. “I didn’t want to copy Jenna but she’s shorter.”
Considering Chris invented the chicest bob of all—creating Jennifer Aniston’s signature short look as Rachel Green in Friends—though, Savannah put total trust into the stylist.
“He invented The Rachel,” she emphasized. “And now he’s touched my hair!”
Indeed, Savannah’s colleague Jenna was just as floored by her new look, which she debuted in June after an on-air haircut from Chris, who is also behind Leslie Bibb’s trademark chin-length ‘do. As she said in a June 17 broadcast, “I felt lighter.”
The stylist gave insight to the jaw-dropping Today transformation, explaining why he loves a bob hairstyle, especially for the warmer months.
“It’s going to be really healthy,” he told E! News at the time. “You’ve got a nice perimeter. You get rid of the dead ends. You get rid of some bad color. You even have some layers. It’s sort of like a re-diagnose of the hair.”
