Scarlett Johansson is always up for a roaring good time with her family.
That’s why the actress won’t stop her 10-year-old daughter Rose—who she shares with ex Romain Dauriac—from watching her new movie Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest installment in the beloved Jurassic Park film franchise.
“I’ve been talking to some other Jurassic fans and they say this is the scariest one,” Scarlett exclusively told E! News’ Erin Lim Rhodes at the New York premiere June 23, “but I would let my daughter see it.”
She continued, “It’s still appropriate for the family. You just gotta watch it through the crack in your fingers.”
Besides, one of the reasons the 40-year-old jumped onboard the dinosaur movie was to create a memorable moviegoing experience for Rose and her 3-year-old brother Cosmo, who Scarlett shares with husband Colin Jost.
“When I saw the first Jurassic Park movie, I was 10 years old in the theater and part of the impression it left on me was the jump scares, the laughs, but the terrors for sure,” Scarlett recalled with chuckle. “That’s part of what’s so great about Jurassic. It’s thrilling in all ways: visually and also emotionally.”
And now, Scarlett has found a new family in her costars Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali and Rupert Friend. As she put it, “One of the best parts of making a movie is the family that you that you develop while you’re shooting.”
“We didn’t have much time to rehearse on this film,” Scarlett explained, “so just having the opportunity to spend as much time as we could doing stuff that was enjoyable was important.”
Especially since the cast experienced what the Black Widow alum called “challenging circumstances” on-location in Malta, such as running around in 103°F heat and 90 percent humidity.
“It helps to have some nice memories to look forward to,” Scarlett quipped, explaining how they’d have cast dinners to unwind, “to daydream about when you’re deep in mangrove water with poisonous snakes.”
