Script2Comic Contest Returns with ‘Widow’ Producer as Sponsor

Script2Comic, the competition that gives screenwriters a chance to turn their scripts into a comic book, has added a new sponsor for the 2026 edition of the contest.

Tambura Pictures, the shingle behind the upcoming feature Widow starring Abigail Cowen, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Jackie Earle Haley, has boarded the event as a sponsor. Tambura joins mainstay AMP Comics, which is home to the Widow comic book and will publish books and graphic novels by the winners, who also get the chance to get their projects put in development for film and TV.

“We at AMP Comics are thrilled to continue as premiere sponsor and publisher of the 2026 Script2Comic Contest,” said Don Handfield, CEO of AMP Comics. “This contest offers emerging creators a unique platform to see their visions realized as published comics and potentially adapted for the biggest platforms in entertainment.”

This year, submissions will be accepted via the platform FilmFreeway.

“Our experience working with AMP Comics on Widow demonstrated the value of strong source material in developing compelling cinema,” said Tambura Pictures’ Eshan Kamarsu. “Comics and graphic novels provide rich visual storytelling with built-in audience engagement. Script2Comic gives us direct access to fresh, innovative narratives with cinematic potential. We’re looking for stories that challenge conventions and offer distinctive voices—exactly what this contest cultivates.”

The World War II monster story Kyojin topped the most recent batch of winners, with previous champions including the vampire tale She Bites.
