Teddi Mellencamp is recovering from a scary experience.
After an attempted burglary occurred at her and estranged husband Edwin Arroyave’s Los Angeles home on July 21, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared an update on how she’s been doing.
“Love you all,” Teddi wrote on her Instagram Stories later that same day. “Thanks for checking in. I am not texting back but I am ok. Resting.”
Shortly after 10.p.m. on the night of the incident, authorities responded to a call reporting a burglary, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to ABC News, while residents were still inside.
But once police officers arrived at the property, according to the LAPD, the suspected burglars—described as two men in black hooded sweatshirts—had driven away in a black BMW without gaining full access to the home. They were suspected to have initially gained entrance to the property through the garage but didn’t make it much further before running off, authorities noted to ABC News.
E! News has reached out to police as well as Teddi’s reps but has not heard back.
The reported incident comes amid a difficult time for Teddi—mom to kids Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5, with Edwin—as earlier this year she shared she was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors.
“For the last several weeks I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches,” she wrote on Instagram in February. “Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least 6 months.”
Since then, the 44-year-old—who is currently undergoing treatment to shrink multiple tumors in her brain and lungs—has been candid about the struggles that come with the disease, including having had to shave her head prior to undergoing brain surgery.
“The day to day decision of wig versus no wig—crying days I tend to pick the wig,” she shared on Instagram in May alongside a photo of herself sporting long blond locks. “The highs and lows of treatment for stage 4 brain and lung tumors are pretty extreme. Please go get your yearly checks.”
But despite her difficult health battle, the reality star—who filed for divorce from Edwin in November—has been determined to continue to live her life to the fullest.
“People have been coming for me for fostering a dog and dating,” Teddi revealed on her and Tamra Judge’s Two T’s in a Pod podcast last month. “Like, ‘The only thing she should be worrying about right now are her kids and staying alive. How in the world could she be dating?’”
And even though she ended her relationship with her boyfriend—whose identity she chose not to share publicly—just one month after revealing their private romance, she emphasized that her health battle will never stop her from pursuing new relationships.
“There’s not a day that you’re not worried about your health, getting better, doing everything that you can do and spending time constantly with your children,” she continued. “Like, shut the f–k up, honestly. If you wanna date, life doesn’t stop because you have cancer.”
