Miley Cyrus just can’t give up Maxx Morando.
In fact, the Liily drummer appears alongside the Grammy winner in her visual album Something Beautiful, which premiered June 6 at the Beacon Theatre as a part of the Tribeca Film Festival.
During the song “End of the World,” Maxx—who first sparked romance rumors with the Disney alum in 2021—is seen sitting at the drum kit as Miley dances on the floor next to it. Later, in “Walk of Fame,” Miley performs on the literal Walk of Fame in Hollywood—even dancing on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s star—but Maxx is still close by as he makes a brief appearance leaning against a wall that Miley walks past.
However, Maxx’s biggest part in the film is during its final song “Reborn,” when he and Miley pack on the PDA and makeout on camera. Elsewhere in the video, the couple also lay together in bed, before Maxx leaves as Miley continues singing the song.
And while Miley did not address her boyfriend of three years’ involvement in the film—other than a very quick thank you alongside a list of her collaborators, as well as to mom Tish Cyrus and stepdad Dominic Purcell—she did emphasize how important the visual project was for her, especially since she got to watch herself perform for the first time.
“I was thinking I’ve never been to a Miley Cyrus concert before,” Miley gushed in a conversation following the film’s premiere. “I was like, ‘She’s singing.’”
Indeed, Miley admitted that seeing the film alongside an audience made her more appreciative of her own talent.
“I’ll come off stage and people say, ‘That was great,’ but I wouldn’t know,” she explained. “I also wanted to turn a live performance into something I can share with you. There’s something about sitting in this theater beside you not to be a spectacle.”
Miley later effused about the experience of her premiere, writing in a June 6 Instagram post, “Tonight was emotional, deep, fun and fabulous. All my favorite things, but YOU the crowd were my absolute favorite of all. I love you.”
