It’s not summer without a little love triangle drama.
The official teaser video for season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty finally arrived April 24, and the clip makes it clear that the complicated love story between Belly Conklin (played by Lola Tung), Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) will be at the center of the final installment.
In fact, the trailer provided a glimpse at a pivotal moment from Jenny Han‘s third book in the trilogy, We’ll Always Have Summer, where Belly and Conrad unexpectedly run into each other at the Cousins beach house over Christmas break and end up hanging out all night without telling Jeremiah, who Belly starts dating at the end of the second novel.
In the clip, Belly—whose face is covered in chocolate from eating holiday candy—opens the door at the Cousins beach house to her surprise visitor. And Conrad—who is chomping on a candy cane—looks equally as shocked to see his ex at the door, pausing for a moment before simply saying, “Hey.”
But that doesn’t mean Jeremiah didn’t get his moment to shine in the trailer as well. After all, the video opens with a string of quick scenes showing the youngest Fisher sibling and Belly kissing, dancing together and enjoying some quality time in a pool.
Another person who makes the whole place shimmer in the teaser? Taylor Swift, whose songs “Daylight” and “Red” soundtracked the romance-packed clip.
And while fans can now expect the Christmas flashback from the third book to appear in the final season—which will contain 11 episodes and premiere on Amazon Prime July 16—Jenny previously warned that some aspects of the show won’t match up to the books this time around.
“There are the things that [fans] know, and there are things they think they know,” the author told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published March 31. “And then there’s going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them.”
