Unfortunately, Tom Holland wasn’t able to use his web shooters to retrieve his wallet.
Over a month after the Spider-Man star’s non-alcoholic beer line, Bero, became available at Target, he tried to become his own customer and buy a box—but it didn’t go as smoothly as planned.
“I haven’t been in the [United] States for a while,” Holland explained in a video he posted to the brand’s Instagram Stories on Feb. 18, walking in the parking lot near the store. “I’m gonna go visit some Bero on the shelves, out in the wild.”
The clip cut to a second video, where the 28-year-old revealed he went to another Target since the first one didn’t have his beer—which he originally launched last October, nearly three years into his sobriety journey—available. He joked that moment wasn’t the “best marketing,” before running into the same issue at the second store.
Holland then proved that third time’s the charm, flipping the camera to excitedly show the three varieties of his brand on the shelves. But that wasn’t the end of his self-investment journey, as he ran into a problem at checkout.
“They wouldn’t accept my ID because it’s English and I couldn’t prove my age, so a really lovely employee scanned their ID,” the Uncharted actor said, before confirming he secured a few cases of his premium beer. “Kind of ironic that I wasn’t allowed to buy my own product.”
While Holland ran into a minor issue purchasing Bero, he hasn’t lost his creative steam as a business owner. He’s added a few easter eggs to his product line, including naming one of the beers Noon Wheat—a sweet nod to his fiancée Zendaya’s 9-year-old Miniature Schnauzer named Noon.
Holland also shared the Euphoria actor, who he got engaged to in January after four years of dating, was his biggest supporter during the brand’s early days. “She does not drink beer at all, and the first round of testing she was like, ‘Wow, these are really tasty,’” he told People in October, joking her response made him second guess the flavors. “I was like, ‘Well, that’s probably not a good sign.’”
