Watch:Tonys 2025: Kristin Chenoweth Reveals Whether She Will Be in Wicked: For Good

Kristin Chenoweth isn’t going to defy gravity when it’s telling her to move on.

After she and Idina Menzel—who starred as Glinda and Elphaba in the original Broadway production of Wicked—made cameos in the first film starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, she shared whether they will appear again in Wicked: For Good

I think Idina and I had our moment, and it was a beautiful moment,” she gushed to E! NewsKeltie Knight outside Radio City Music Hall on the 78th Tony Awards red carpet. “But you know what? It’s their wand and their broom.”

Please, don’t be offended by Kristin’s frank analysis of any future potential cameo. After all, she went on to gush about attending the Tonys, which Wicked: For Good’s Cynthia is hosting. (See every star here.)

“I love it,” she added to E! “It’s coming home. I’m seeing all my friends, it’s your people happy.”

And while Kristin is turning down the chance to be in yet another popular film—she previously gave heaps of praise to the original movie and their Elphaba and Glinda successors.

“Oh my gosh I just saw the movie and I’m dying,” Kristin said in an Instagram post in November, shortly after the first Wicked film hit theaters. “I’m deceased, I’m actually dead, I’m not here.”

At the time, Kristin remained coy about her and Idina’s cameo—but she shared all of the kind words for Ariana and Cynthia’s performances.

“The story is so wonderful, and Cynthia and Ariana are amazing,” she continued. “Jon Chu nailed it. I was so moved, emotional, happy, filled with joy. Please everybody go see Wicked, you’ll be blessed.”

Of course, the feeling is mutual when it comes to Ariana’s feelings about Kristin.

“I learned everything I know from watching this woman,” Ariana said of Kristin on a 2021 episode of The Voice. “When we were doing Hairspray Live, you would pitch a joke, or like, a melody change here and there, and ask, ‘Does this add value?’ As a performer, to me, that changed my life entirely.” (See every Tonys winner here.)
