Trinity Rodman Crashes Boyfriend Ben Shelton’s Press Conference—And the Result Is Priceless

Watch: Trinity Rodman Slams Wimbledon Coverage Mentioning Estranged Dad Dennis Rodman

All’s fair in love and tennis.

It’s why when Ben Shelton attended his post-match press conference at the US Open—after defeating Spain’s Pablo Carreño Busta—the 22-year-old was greeted by the face of his girlfriend Trinity Rodman, who used the opportunity to roast her boyfriend.

“So,” Trinity began, having been given the conference’s last question, “how did it feel not being able to serve faster than 135 today?”

Upon seeing his girlfriend, Ben laughed, putting his face in his hands. He turned to an offscreen companion and asked, “Why’d you give her a question?”

Undeterred, Trinity continued, “I just know you like to serve big, and it wasn’t breaking 140 today.”

Leaning into the bit, Ben—whose on-court repertoire does indeed boast a powerful serve, with his fastest clocked at 150 miles per hour—put on a serious face and answered the question posed by the soccer star.

“It was cold outside today, so I think that was you know the main reason,” he said. “I was focused on hitting spots. I didn’t hit those spots, so maybe I should just serve bigger. Something that I’ll definitely work on next time.”

Though he couldn’t help but quip into the mic, as the press conference came to a close, “Let anyone in the room at this point, huh?”

But despite the ribbing, Ben is grateful to have Trinity by his side as he faces down his fourth US Open showing. In fact, he reserved a special shoutout for her after his first-round win.

“My girlfriend took the red eye from California last night to be here,” he said from the court following his win against Ignacio Buse August 25. “So, we’re here for the long haul, just looking forward to it.”

And Trinity made sure she didn’t just show up—she also showed out. Taking her support to the next level, the USWNT player proved she’s Ben’s No. 1 fan by donning pants featuring “Shelton” down the leg.
