The Coyote Ugly cast is ready to get back to the bar.
As the iconic 2000 film—starring Piper Perabo, Tyra Banks, Melanie Lynskey and more—celebrated its 25th anniversary, some of the movie’s costars reflected on its impact and whether they’d be open to returning for a sequel.
“I remember every girl in town wanted to be in this movie, I was so excited when I was cast,” Melanie explained in an exclusive interview with E! News, adding of a sequel, “I think it would be fun. It would be super fun.”
As for Tyra, she already has an idea—teasing it would center around Maria Bello’s Lil—who owned the infamous Coyote Ugly joint. As for whether the America’s Next Top Model alum is down to reprise her own character Zoë? She assured, “I am, yes.”
Meanwhile, songwriter Diane Warren—who penned the music for the film’s soundtrack, including “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” by LeAnn Rimes—is more than ready to get back into the studio, too, adding, “I keep wanting them to do Coyote 2, I’d love to be a part of that.”
And though other cast members were keeping their specific ideas for a follow-up film under lock and key, Izabella Miko, who played Cammie in the original film, teased a bit of the plot she’s been cooking up for her character.
“She would be going through an awakening,” she added. “She just went to Colombia, did ayahuasca, decided to come back and open up an IV-drip bar right next to Coyote Ugly.”
The 44-year-old further emphasized that the entire cast is ready to reprise their roles.
“I feel like the world needs a sequel of Coyote Ugly,” she effused. “I think if the fans come together and say, ‘Hey, we want, we need it,’ we can make it happen.”
For now, though, the Coyote Ugly cast was happy to just reunite to benefit the Global Empowerment Mission’s California wildfire relief efforts. Indeed, the cast linked up for a special screening of the film in Santa Monica, which Tyra spearheaded after losing her own home.
“To me, the Palisades is still my beautiful village,” Tyra shared. “So that’s the memory that I have, and I’m going to hold on to that, and I think it’s going to come back more beautiful than ever.”
A Coyote Ugly sequel could be on the horizon soon enough, but in the meantime, keep reading for films in 2025 to add to your watchlist….
