Usher got us fallin’ in love at the 2025 Met Gala.
Indeed, the “Yeah!” singer had everyone saying “OMG” as he walked the famed steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City March 5 alongside his wife Jennifer Goicoechea.
For fashion’s biggest night of the year—hosted by co-chairs A$AP Rocky, ColmanDomingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams as well as Vogue editor Anna Wintour and honorary co-chair LeBron James—Usher made quite a statement with his black tuxedo, which he accessorized with a white scarf draped on his shoulder and a cane in his hand. Meanwhile, Jennifer complemented his look in a monochromatic top featuring a white blazer, tie, and ornate flower piece on the shoulder. She completed her look with black slacks and a billowing back train cascading from her hip. (See all the stars on the red carpet at the gala.)
And it’s safe to say that the eight-time Grammy winner fully embodied the theme of the night, “Superfine: Tailoring Back Style,” for his show-stopping appearance at the charity gala.
Last year, the “My Boo” singer rose to the occasion once again with a custom Alexander McQueen sparkly black suit, accessorized with Jacob & Co jewelry, a head-turning oversized cape, a black leather hat and a bright red rose in his hand.
And while attendees would have loved to hear him perform, the 46-year-old was taking advantage of the rare opportunity to rest and recover from a most eventful year, which consisted of his headline-making Super Bowl performance as well as his wedding to Jennifer—with whom he shares kids Sovereign, 4, and Sire, 3—during a Las Vegas ceremony.
“I’ve been performing all year,” Usher told Live From E! at last year’s gala. “I get to relax tonight.”
Because back in 2023, when Usher—also dad to sons Usher V, 17, and Naviyd, 16, with ex Tameka Foster—arrived at the Met in an elegant black suit designed by Bianca Saunders, the singer emphasized how drastically different the lavish event felt from his usual onstage antics.
“That world I even control a little bit,” Usher explained, “but the world of award shows and ceremonies or honors and stuff like that, there’s a lot of tension and everybody’s moving, trying to figure out how to accommodate time, make the most of it, and be relaxed. There’s not really a lot of space to relax until you get there.”
