Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is focusing on a new endeavor.
The 34-year-old revealed she plans to step back from the public eye in favor of focusing on her new abstract art business BlownBeauty Art, changing her handles on Instagram and TikTok to reflect the career pivot.
“I decided to shift gears because I got tired of people constantly tying my name to my past,” she told People in an interview published Aug. 5. “I’ve started to crave a more private life and wanted to redirect my energy toward something that truly brings me peace and creating art does that for me.”
Since her release from prison in 2023 after serving eight years for her role in the murder of her mother Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, Gypsy-Rose documented her return to the outside world in the Lifetime reality series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup as well as her 2024 memoir My Time to Stand.
But now, the new mom—who welcomed daughter Aurora Raina Urker, 7 months, with fiancé Ken Urker in December—has opted to lead a less public lifestyle.
“Everyone deserves the right to keep some parts of themselves private,” she went on, “and this is me choosing that for myself.”
Shortly after launching her new venture—which so far consists of art created using a blow dryer to move the paint on the canvas—the former inmate explained what inspired her to pursue the passion project.
“With abstract art, it doesn’t have to be perfect, and I’ve never been one of those girls that colored inside the lines,” she said in a video posted on BlownBeauty Art’s Instagram page Aug. 3. “So I’m excited to make something special for everyone. It’s it gives me peace, and it kind of centers me.”
And while Gypsy-Rose may be opting to keep her personal life to herself, she seems to have channeled her difficult past in her art.
“In life, we go through things that sometimes are really hard,” she continued, “and so if we can find one thing that brings us peace and centers us inside our soul, then it’s worth doing and sharing.”
