Why Nina Dobrev and Shaun White Haven’t Started Wedding Planning Yet

Watch: Nina Dobrev & Shaun White Are Engaged!

Nina Dobrev is enjoying her fiancée era.

Nearly six months after the Vampire Diaries alum and Olympic skier Shaun White got engaged, she shared that their busy schedules have kept them from planning their big day.

“I was in Australia shooting a movie and then Christmas and New Year’s,” Nina explained in an exclusive interview with E! News’ Francesca Amiker. “We’re just enjoying being engaged at this point and being in that sort of phase because a lot of your life is—you have a boyfriend for half of your life and then you have a husband for half of your life but the fiancé period is very short.”

As she put it, “I really want to enjoy it and not rush that process.”

And the 36-year-old—who started dating Shaun back in 2019—admitted that there is, in fact, a lot to enjoy about engagement.

“It’s so fun to say fiancé,” she gushed, also noting that when she gets around to planning there’s one thing she wants to focus on: “My number one goal is to find out how to make it as low-impact as possible.”

Indeed, in addition to staying present in her engagement era, Nina has been focusing on reducing her carbon footprint. And the Perks of Being a Wallflower actress, who is partnering with SC Johnson to spread awareness for World Recycling Day March 18, emphasized that she believes her individual choices—when it comes to wedding planning and beyond—do make a difference in the environment.

“Absolutely every single person counts and matters,” Nina argued. “It makes a big difference.”

But S.C. Johnson is also thinking bigger, too. The brand is spreading even more awareness about plastic waste that ends up in oceans with their advocacy mascot, Zuzu The Hermit Crab, which has also launched a petition for businesses around the country to implement better recycling programs and systems.

As Nina noted, “We really have to all band together and join the Zuzu movement.”

For Nina’s part, though, she’s implementing green thinking into her life in any way she can. In fact, when it comes to her upcoming wedding with Shaun, she would especially “love” to make their ceremony as sustainable as possible.

“I was never one of those girls who dreamt of what a dream wedding would be,” she admitted. “So I’d have to do a lot of research and find out the areas of improvement.”

Whenever their big day may be, rest assured that Nina and Shaun will make it green.
