Steph Curry is taking a timeout from the NBA playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors point guard will miss at least game two of the Western Conference semifinals series against the Minnesota Timberwolves after sustaining a Grade 1 left hamstring strain May 6, according to multipleoutlets

The Warriors also confirmed that Steph sustained the hamstring injury during game one.

“Stephen Curry, who exited last night’s game against the Timberwolves with 8:19 remaining in the second quarter with a strained left hamstring, underwent an MRI this morning,” the team shared in a statement to X (formerly Twitter) May 7. “The MRI confirmed the injury as a Grade 1 hamstring strain. Curry will be re-evaluated in one week.”

Following their win over the Timberwolves in game one, Warriors coach Steve Kerr weighed in on Steph’s condition after he left the game with a visible limp.

“We don’t know yet,” Kerr told reporters during a post-game press conference May 6, per ESPN. “But with a hamstring, it’s hard to imagine that he would play Thursday.”

The coach continued, “He’s obviously crushed. But the guys picked him up and played a great game, and obviously we’re all concerned about Steph but it’s part of the game.”

While it is unclear when the 37-year-old—who shares kids Riley, 12, Ryan, 9, Canon, 6, and Caius, 11 months, with wife Ayesha Curry—will return to the series, his teammate Jimmy Butler III shared some encouraging words toward Steph.

“I think we all want [No.] 30 back, that is for sure,” the forward said during the press conference. “But we want him to do his best for himself, best for our group. Until then, we can hold down the fort. I know we can.”

Butler’s confidence was echoed by fellow forward Draymond Green, who also praised his teammate’s leadership.

“We know what Jimmy’s capable of,” Green shared with reporters. “Jimmy’s capable of carrying a team. He carried a team to the Finals twice. So we won’t panic. We will figure out what that means.”

He added, “We have the best coaching staff in the NBA. We know they’ll put us in a good spot and let us know what our offense looks like without Steph if we have to go on without him. We got full confidence in the guys that are on this team that we can make plays, can make shots.”

The Warriors will face off against the Timberwolves on May 8 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
