To all the costars we’ve loved before.
Four years after they last shared the screen together, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before stars Noah Centineo and Lana Condor reunited at the inaugural SAG Awards Spotlight Dinner Feb. 18.
The former costars—who played love interests in the 2018 rom-com and its sequels P.S. I Still Love You and Always and Forever—were all smiles as they posed at the star-studded event in Los Angeles, with Lana rocking a royal blue dress with a corseted bodice and Noah opting for a dark gray suit over a black T-shirt as he draped his arm around his pal.
The Recruit actor—who recently reprised his role as Peter Kavinsky in the second season of the To All the Boys spinoff series XO Kitty—has been open about the tight bond that he and Lana formed while working on the trilogy.
“I would say that we’re like a married couple at this point,” the 28-year-old told Cosmopolitan U.K. of Lana—who wed Anthony De La Torre in October—in 2021. “Whenever we get together you feel extraordinarily comfortable with the person because I’ve worked with her for three and a half years now and it’s very seamless. It’s wonderful.”
While Noah cherished the connection he made with Lana, 27, he’s also shared insight into his struggles with being thrust into the spotlight on the back of the Netflix movies.
“I was so unhappy,” Noah said of his early 20s on the Chicks in the Office podcast Feb. 3. “I was able to pay my bills for the first time. I was completely financially stable and secure. I was working regularly, and I was doing a lot of drugs. Nothing crazy. I was doing drugs a lot. And drinking all the time, every day and I was young.”
“I was 20 years old and I had been doing that for a couple years,” he continued. “So, I had a career that I was proud of. I was making enough money to pay my rent and put a little bit away. You would think I should be super stoked and super happy, and I just wasn’t.”
The Fosters alum has since come to terms with his relationship with alcohol and recognized that he was using it to escape reality.
“You get to really confront things,” Noah said. “If you’re drinking you don’t really have to worry about things. It’s a good way to numb yourself or self-medicate. And then you have to find healthier ways to deal with those things.”
And, for the Netflix star, that healthier way has proven to be exercise.
“Right now, I’m in one of those phases where I’m just not really doing anything and you just workout,” Noah shared. “And try and connect with yourself and take care of yourself as best as you can.”
