Zoe Saldaña thinks her family deserves all the trophies.
In fact, the Emilia Pérez star, who’s up for Best Supporting Actress Oscar at the 97th Academy Awards, is deeply appreciative of the support she’s gotten from her husband Marco Perego-Saldaña and their three sons, Cy and Bowie, 10, and Zen, 8. It’s all the more reason why she can’t wait to spend more time with them after an eventful award season.
“I would like to take my kids to school every day and pick them up,” Zoetold Zuri Hall during Live From E!: The Oscars March 2. “And I would want them to finish this school year with their Mama by their side because they are so resilient and they’ve been, you know, backing me up, along with my husband this entire campaign. But I miss my children like I miss air, like I miss water. And I just—I can’t wait to take them to school.” (See every star on the red carpet here.)
That said, Zoe—who is fresh off her SAG Awards win—is thankful for where is she is in life.
“I am grateful,” she told Zuri of being a first-time Academy Award nominee. “I was always every time I was ever invited to attend, either to present, or when I was a part of films like Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, and they were being nominated at whatever capacity, I always felt fortunate to be here as an artist.”
As she noted, “I get to make a living doing what I love. And today is no different. It is a dream come true. My inner child is very, very happy, but it just reignites this fire in me to continue telling stories that that that are just inspiring and sometimes uncomfortable, but worth telling nonetheless.”
